AI for a company of nine people

The average private employer in Monaco has nine employees (IMSEE, end 2025). What AI looks like at that size: one person’s afternoons given back, decisions in one conversation, the owner reading the log himself. A practical picture, with the numbers behind it.

IMSEE counts 59,724 private-sector employees for 6,378 employers at the end of 2025: nine people per company, on average. Almost everything written about AI is written for companies of nine hundred. This is for the other kind.

Nobody to delegate to

In a team of nine the person who answers the enquiries also writes the quotes, chases the invoices and prepares the numbers, and the owner does the rest at 7 pm. There is no junior to hand the repetitive work to. That is exactly why an assistant that takes one of those tasks shows a result by Friday, visible to everyone, which never happens in a large company.

Decisions in one conversation

The decision-maker is in the room, often doing the task herself. The quick-check takes 30 minutes because there is nobody to escalate to. The prototype gets approved or not on a Friday afternoon. Projects that take six months elsewhere take one here, and the difference is not technology; it is the absence of a committee.

The owner reads the log

In a company of nine, trust in a system is personal. The owner wants to see what it did with a given email. So the log is written for him, in plain words, on his phone: read this, drafted that, stopped here because. Ten minutes a week, and the system is his, not ours.

What it costs at this size

Model usage for nine people is small. The build is one task at a time, each with a fixed price written before it starts. The Principality’s support programme is designed for exactly this size of company. And the first task is usually the one that gives one person back her afternoons, which in a team of nine is the equivalent of hiring.

Two questions.

Where do these numbers come from?

IMSEE, Monaco Statistics, private-sector employment at the end of 2025: 59,724 employees, 6,378 employers. The division is ours and rounded.

We are bigger than nine. Does this still apply?

Up to about fifty, yes, department by department. Beyond that the audit becomes the first step, so the roadmap is right before anything is built.
